Jubilo
Jubilo is a theatre group born in 2011 in Wrocław, Poland. The project’s core artistic team consists of actors and musicians from Poland, Canada and Italy. Jubilo is an artistic call against cultural exclusion and social marginalisation. It aims to disintegrate social, economic, language and cultural barriers through artistic encounters, where the platform of exchange is the language of theatre and music. The international ensemble of Jubilo leads socio-educational and theatrical projects within the marginalised communities of adults with experience of mental illness, physically and mentally disabled youth, Roma children in a camp in Wrocław, refugees in Bosnia, homeless adults, prisoners and others. The performative line of their work has developed since 2013 as part of Scherzo performative gatherings – artistic events at the interface of gathering, performative action, concert and musical jam session. In 2015, Jubilo led the project Unlocking in collaboration with Penitentiary No 1, and Hidden City, a series of musical and theatrical events taking place in non-theatre spaces, premiering a concert of traditional songs and the performance Black Night White Day.
Project funded in 2015 by the Wrocław City Council and realised with the support of the Grotowski Institute.
