Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art created by Morihei Ueshiba. Its principle is to merge with the attacker’s movements in order to redirect them instead of it ‘colliding’ with them. The main focus of the practice is on self-development rather than on attaining perfection of movement. 

During the work, daily aikido practice will be presented. Miyamoto sensei will introduce the concepts of physical, dynamic and ‘live’ contact with the partner. He will also address the question of the changing perception of the different aikido forms.

Tsuruzo Miyamoto Shihan

Tsuruzo Miyamoto Shihan was born in 1953. He started aikido in 1971, at 18, when he entered the University of Fukuoka. For the next four years he trained under Suganuma Mamoru Sensei, who was a delegate instructor of the Aikikai. He ensei trained at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Tokyo under Ueshiba Kisshomaru Doshu from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. He is a 7th dan and senior instructor at the Aikikai Hombu. He has held seminars in several countries including the USA, Israel, France, Spain, Germany, Russia, Poland and the UK.
